False claims of triclosan in disposable nappies
15 April 2010
The claim made today (Thurs 15 April, 2010) in the Sydney Morning Herald by consumer writer, Melissa Singer that triclosan is an ingredient or is present in disposable nappies is completely false.
Triclosan, while commonly used in many other consumer products such as anti-bacterial soaps and toothpastes, is not used and has never been used in HUGGIES® or SNUGGLERS® disposable nappies or other disposable nappy brands to Kimberly-Clark’s knowledge.
Also contrary to the same story, HUGGIES® nappies are clinically proven to help prevent nappy rash. All ingredients and components of HUGGIES® nappies are rigorously tested prior to use to ensure this claim can be supported.
The safety of our consumers is Kimberly-Clark’s continuing number one priority. HUGGIES® nappies are today and have always been completely safe for mothers to use on their baby.
