Kimberly-Clark New Zealand leaves sustainable legacy on Waiheke
3 April 2009
On a recent trip to Waiheke Island, Auckland, for their annual conference, the team from Kimberly-Clark New Zealand planted 300 native trees to help rebuild the natural vegetation.
Fifty years ago Waiheke Island was completely cleared by farmers to focus on dairy farming.
After a briefing from Gary Wilton, from the Auckland City Council, the team set about planting the trees, which were especially chosen for their longevity, in a wetland area recently cleared of weeds and pampas.
Everyone enjoyed rolling up their sleeves and giving back to the local community and environment. We look forward to watching them grow!
