Dow Jones ranks Kimberly-Clark Corporation No. 1 for fourth consecutive year

16 September 2008

For the fourth consecutive year, the Dow Jones Sustainability World Index (DJSI World) has named Kimberly-Clark Corporation as the sustainability world leader for personal products.

The DJSI World rankings are based on the long-term economic, environmental and social performance of leading global companies across 57 industries.

Kimberly-Clark was ranked No. 1 among a global peer group of 16 personal products companies.

Only the top 10 percent of the world’s largest 2,500 companies qualify for this prestigious list, with companies selected according to a systematic sustainability assessment that identifies the leaders in each industry group.

For Kimberly-Clark Australia, this global recognition cements its reputation as a leader in environmental, social and workplace sustainability. In recent weeks, Kimberly-Clark Australia has earned numerous environmental awards, including:

  • 14001 certification for Environmental Management

Kimberly-Clark’s Millicent and Tantanoola Mills in South Australia were awarded the gold standard of environmental excellence, the 14001 certification for Environmental Management – a recognition already held by Albury Mill.

  • Most Innovative Packaging Waste Management Solution Award

Kimberly-Clark Australia won the national award for the most innovative packaging waste management solution, from the prestigious Packaging Evolution Awards.

  • Full PEFC accreditation for tissue products

Kimberly-Clark Australia’s tissue manufacturing was accredited under the PEFC scheme, the international Programme for the Endorsement of Forest Certification – as “promoting sustainable forest management”.
