Jeans for Genes Day support raises over $16,000
8 August 2008
On Friday 1 August, Kimberly-Clark Australia participated in the National Jeans for Genes Day campaign with employees selling Jeans for Genes merchandise outside the Milsons Point train station and taking part in the various fundraising activities throughout the day.
Again this year Huggies® has partnered with the Children’s Medical Research Institute (CMRI) to promote Jeans for Genes Day.
Across the country Kimberly-Clark has raised well over $16,000 with the help of many Kimberly-Clark volunteers and staff who sold merchandise and helped to organise fundraising activities such as a competition to design a placard, raffles, and a Huggies® Baby Club photo competition.
This year, Kimberly-Clark’s Jeans for Genes Day campaign was backed by sponsors such as Ferrero Australia who donated 300 chocolates that were handed out to staff on the day. Kimberly-Clark also held a big morning tea in the foyer of Kimberly-Clark House with an estimated attendance of between 300 to 400 Kimberly-Clark employees.
Kimberly-Clark Australia gives over $150,000 to CMRI every year, to support their research to advance the prevention and treatment of diseases for children and adults. In fact, one of the major components of Kimberly-Clark’s partnership with CMRI was the establishment of the Kimberly-Clark Research Fellowship to support the salary of one scientist over a six year period.
