Twenty-two Kimberly-Clark employees from the Millicent and Tantanoola mills in South Australia have used their Volunteer Leave to contribute an impressive 176 hours labour to the construction of an Adventure Playground and an Adult Fitness Trail as part of the Millicent township’s “Wattle Range Play Ground Domain” project. Eight employees contributed an additional two to three days labour.

This contribution from Kimberly-Clark employees accounted for approximately 80% of the community support received for the project.

Ross Nugent, Mill Manager of the Millicent Mill, said, “The average employee age of people at our Mill is 44. Clearly, employee fitness both on and off the job is important to us, to our people and to our people’s families.”

“This Adult Fitness Trail is a tangible way for us to demonstrate to the local community and our people in the local community the importance we place on their well being,” said Ross.

Wattle Range CEO Frank Brennan and the Site Supervisor James Hubbard were extremely grateful for the support and the way in which the work was carried out.

The employee participation came on top of a previous donation of $50,000 to the Adventure Playground, plus a further $10,000+ for the Adult Fitness Trail.

KCA Managing Director, Mark Wynne was in Millicent to present a cheque for $11,725 to Wattle Range Council Mayor, Mark Braes, as a contribution towards the Adult Fitness Trail, expressing Kimberly-Clark’s pleasure at supporting such a key community development.

“I’m really pleased that Kimberly-Clark Australia and its employees are demonstrating in a tangible way our responsible corporate citizenship,” said Mayor Braes.
