Kimberly-Clark Corporation releases 2006 corporate sustainability report

Kimberly-Clark Corporation, parent company of Kimberly-Clark Australia & New Zealand, has released its 2006 sustainability report, As We Live and Breathe.

The report covers the many ways Kimberly-Clark is managing the effects of our business on customers, shoppers and users of our products, the environment, employees and suppliers, and the communities in which we live in work.

It explains the commitment and performance in the five aspects of sustainability most important to our business and stakeholders in 2006:

  • Vision 2010 – continued improvement in environmental and safety management
  • Ethical sourcing of raw materials
  • Responsible business reorganisation
  • Building trust through good governance
  • Operating responsibly in developing countries

Kimberly-Clark achieved several milestones in sustainability programs in 2006, including:

  • Environment: overall energy use was reduced by 2 percent, while increasing energy efficiency by nearly 3 percent and reducing greenhouse gas emissions per ton of production by 2 percent at manufacturing operations
  • Safety: work-related injury or illness resulting in days away from work was decreased by 22 percent
  • Diversity: spending with minority and women-owned suppliers in the US boosted by 10 percent to increase the diversity in our supply chain
  • Community Care: $24.3 million was donated in cash and product, including employee giving, to partner charities and causes around the globe.
