Kimberly-Clark* Microcuff* paediatric endotracheal tubes

New Microcuff* paediatric ET tube from Kimberly-Clark features a unique design and cuff material developed specifically for the paediatric anatomy.

Kimberly-Clark is proud to introduce a cuffed endotracheal tube designed for paediatric patients. With features and cuff designed specifically for paediatric patients, the new Microcuff* paediatric endotracheal tube from Kimberly-Clark offers all the advantages of a cuffed tube with features to enhance safe use.

Microcuff* paediatric endotracheal Tube virtually eliminates airway leaks or replacing oversized uncuffed tubes. You can now confidently seal the airway using a micro-thin cuff which compensates for various airway shapes and sizes.

Minimal tube replacement, improved efficacy of ventilation and monitoring, and reduced aspiration are only some of the advantages of sealing the airway with a cuff.

The Kimberly-Clark* Microcuff* paediatric endotracheal tube seals the airway at ultra-low cuff pressures, reducing the risk of tissue trauma.

With the breakthrough technology of an advanced micro-thin polyurethane cuff, Microcuff* tubes effectively seal the airway at about 10cm H20 cuff pressure, almost half the pressure of conventional cuffed ET tubes. This ultra-low cuff pressure diminishes the risk to mucosal tissue and contributes to safe tracheal intubation of children.

Unlike conventional cuffed paediatric tubes which are often downsized adult tubes, Microcuff* Paediatric Endotracheal Tubes were designed specifically for the unique paediatric anatomy.

The anatomically-based intubation depth mark assists in optimal tube placement while the short, cylindrical cuff placed near the tube tip positions the cuff lower in the airway. Simply put, the design, markings, and cuff material result in a tube that can be used on paediatric patients from full-term birth to adolescence.

Several clinical trials have already been conducted on the safety and efficacy of Microcuff* tubes in a wide variety of patients. For example, a 500 patient study concluded, “the new Microcuff* paediatric tracheal tube with high volume-low pressure cuff allows safe tracheal intubation and tracheal sealing in children” (Dullenkopf, et al., Acta Anaesthesiol Scand 2005).

With the new Microcuff* paediatric endotracheal tubes, now you can enjoy the benefits of a cuffed ET tube for paediatric patients.
