Fabric technology
Polypropylene fabrics
For increased barrier protection, Kimberly-Clark’s innovative polypropylene SMMS fabric is used in Kimguard® sterile wrap and has a four-layered construction.

The outer spunbond layers provide tough abrasion resistance and cloth-like feel. The inner meltblown layers form an exceptional microbial barrier.
Products made from polypropylene fabric are:
- Personal protective equipment range
- Kimguard® sterile wrap
- Kimguard® One-Step* sterile wrap
- Kimberly-Clark surgical drapes and gowns: Evolution* 4® fabric and Ultra
- Control* cover gowns
MicroCool® breathable impervious† fabric

Moisture vapour particles are much smaller in size than blood droplets and other fluids, viruses and bacteria. This gown combines comfort and impervious protection.
MicroCool® gowns use our advanced fabric technology – a layer of strong, thin microporous breathable film between two soft, cloth-like fabric layers, to allow vapour to pass easily through while keeping you cool and providing protection from blood and body fluids.

† The barrier properties of the gown may be breached if it is abraded, stretched or punctured by a sharp object.
Kimberly-Clark makes no representation that its products described in this website will provide complete protection from exposure to contaminants, fluids, or micro organisms or will eliminate the risk of contracting infectious diseases.
