Pulp after bleaching
Bleaching of fibres
Kimberly-Clark Australia uses a world first technique of oxygen-based bleaching at our Tantanoola Mill, using hydrogen peroxide – basically water and oxygen.
How does KCA’s bleaching affect the environment?
This process has no known adverse environmental impact. It generates negligible levels of by-products, which are similar to the natural breakdown of wood in the forest with air and water.
We don’t bleach our products just to make them whiter. The bleaching also greatly increases strength and absorbency – strength required for products like toilet tissue, and absorbency for your paper towels.
Kimberly-Clark was a pioneer of oxygen-based bleaching in Australia and developed the process as a “world first”.
