Community Care partnerships

Working in partnership with community organisations is seen as integral to Kimberly-Clark being able to positively impact on the wellbeing of the people we work with, the people we provide product and services to and the communities we live in.

At Kimberly-Clark community partnerships are not considered pure sponsorship relationships or philanthropic donations as the program aims to utilise partnerships that go beyond a one off cash donation or generating pure marketing benefits.

Our community partners

The Children’s Medical Research Institute

The Children’s Medical Research Institute (CMRI) is an independent research centre, focusing on fundamental research to advance the prevention and treatment of disease for children and adults.

Each year the CMRI hosts Jeans for Genes Day, which aims to raise awareness and funds to support the CMRI’s ongoing research programs.

Kimberly-Clark has been a proud supporter of CMRI since 1994, formalising the partnership with a three year alliance, which has been extended for a further three years to 2009. Over this time, Kimberly-Clark has contributed over $450,000 to the Institute.

A major component of the partnership has been the establishment of the Kimberly-Clark Research Fellowship to support the salary of one scientist over a six year period.

The first recipient is Dr David Loebel, a member of Embryology Research Unit, who hopes to identify key genes involved in human development and how congenital abnormalities might occur in babies.

Kimberly-Clark’s support also extends to supplying CMRI with goods in-hand for their laboratories as well as financial support for special projects, including the CMRI promotional video, Difficult Questions.

Clean Up Australia

Clean Up Australia (CUA) aims to inspire and work with all Australians to clean up, fix up and conserve our environment.

Clean Up Australia is most recognised for its annual Clean Up Australia Day campaign, but over the past 17 years, the Clean Up Australia concept has grown to include a global outreach program, Clean up the World, and the Clean Water, Zero Waste and Climate Change campaigns.

In recognition of Kimberly-Clark’s commitment to environmental responsibility, we chose to expand the existing relationship between CUA and Wondersoft® toilet tissue to a corporate level in 2007.

The partnership with CUA offers a number of opportunity for employees to get involved through Clean Up Australia Day activities, the Wondersoft® Clean Water campaign, Waste Recovery initiatives in the office and potential sustainability projects focused around Kimberly-Clark’s manufacturing sites.
